Residence And Employment Of Foreigners – Conference

The introduction of new solutions to improve the process of legalization of residence and employment of foreigners was the main subject of the conference organized by the Lower Silesia Regional Office. The meeting was attended, among others, by Head of the Office for Foreigners Rafał Rogala, the Governor of Lower Silesia Paul Hreniak and representatives of the provincial authorities.

A very large increase in applications issued by foreigners is a challenge for the authorities responsible for their operation. It requires a continuous search for new solutions to improve the organization of work and dealing with these issues. The conference in Wroclaw was an opportunity to exchange experience and knowledge of best practices in subsequent institutions. Among other things, the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Regional Office for the improvement of the foreigners made major renovation of the premises, made a partial computerization of service and sent additional staff. Lower Silesia Regional Office introduced: the possibility proposals delegations office, SMS notifications, helpline and applications that support foreigners.

The number of applications for permits to stay in Poland for three years tends to increase. In 2016 such requests were issued by approx. 152 thousand of foreigners, 30 percent. more than in 2015. A significant increase in casework in all provincial offices and the Office for Foreigners is associated primarily with the number of applications for temporary residence permits coming from the citizens of Ukraine.

Foreigners who want to legalize their stay in Poland (for a period longer than is permitted by the visa) regional offices issue documents certifying their right of residence in the country. The Office for Foreigners is the court of appeal in such proceedings. The summary of 2016 in the terms of legalization can be found HERE.
