Document issued after granting the residence permit for humanitarian reasons

The foreigner who was given a permit to stay for humanitarian reasons can be given the residence card issued at their request , which is valid for 2 years from the date of its issuance. The first the residence card is issued by the commanding officer of the Border Guard unit or the commanding officer of the Border Guard institution, who granted the permit. When submitting the application, the foreigner is under the obligation to submit fingerprints. The document should be collected in person (this requirement does not apply to a minor foreigner below 13 years of age).
Before the end of its validity another residence card should be obtained. In addition, in some cases the obligation shall arise to replace the foreigner’s residence card.
The residence card in the period of its validity confirms the foreigner’s identity during their stay on the territory of the Republic of Poland, and authorizes them, along with a travel document, to cross the border multiple times without the need to obtain visa.

Note: Foreigners who were given a permit to stay for humanitarian reasons can be entitled to work without the need to obtain additionally the permit for work.
